Hello Bob

Can I ask; is the change because The Lancy have asked us not to use their venue anymore? :?:

No, it was the chandeliers and bingo that did it for me!

The pint of vinegar they served me didn't help, what made it worse was being told, "nowt wrong with it" ....it even smelt of vinegar!!!!!!

They should rename it The Blue Oyster Bar

As promised Clarky has had a chat with the guy who runs the Ulverston Sports Club about us using it for club nights.
Apparently the British Bike Club already use it - they pay so much to hire the room for the evening.
The alternative is that we all join the Sports Club for the princely sum of £5 per person per year. We can then use the club facilities for free - all we have to do is book the room in their diary.
There is no real ale (except in bottles) but the price of their other beers is (to be confirmed) less than in the pubs.
Another point - the Sports Club would be much better for the AGM.
If people are happy to change I will contact the owner to see if we could have a look at (try) the venue before making a final decision.
PLEASE respond to this post to indicate whether you want to try the Sports Club as our main venue (stopping with the Stan Laurel for the mid-monthly meeting?) or keep with the Farmhouse.

I'm happy to give the Sports Club a try, we used to use the place for club do's in't old days (Dick Marr organised the bands) and good do's they were. The place is pretty much perfect for club nights, easy parking, loads of space in the lounge and a smaller room available we could use for the AGM.

I am also happy to give the Ulverston Sports Club a try for a while to see how members take to it.
Also having a single venue for club nights appeals to me as I won't have to remember which place I should be heading on the 1st and 3rd Thursday in the month!!!!!!!
